Military Air Transport Services, Douglas DC-8, Swing Tail Project 1920W, 59011.In connection with the Roll Out of Ship One April 9th, 1958 Donald W. Douglas Sr. surprised the audience by authorizing the exploration of extending the DC-8's potential by installing a swing tail plus large cargo door. It was namned project 1920W and also called the Jetmaster in connection with demonstrations at U.S. Air Force bases.
